Good luck to GCHS FCCLA students as they compete at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Denver, CO in Parliamentary Procedures this week. Piper McGuffey, Audrey Jennings, Kayma Galloway, and Lizzy Gallegos, all juniors, are enrolled in the Family Consumer Sciences Pathways (Early Childhood Education, Culinary, and Fashion & Interior Design).

GCHS wants to wish Jaylyn Gray, a 2023 graduate, and Kassidy Hunt, a senior, good luck at FBLA National Competitions in Atlanta, GA this week. Jaylyn is competing in Insurance and Risk Management and Kassidy is competing in Accounting. These young ladies are under the leadership of FBLA Club Sponsor, Rachael Parsons.
Nanami Foster, GCHS senior, attended Sullivan University Advanced Culinary Camp this week in Louisville, KY. This camp is designed for students who have taken at least one year of culinary training at the high school level. Advanced Culinary Camp focuses on strengthening culinary competition skills and fine-tuning individual cooking techniques. Nanami currently is in the Culinary pathway at GCHS under the direction of Mrs. Emily Arnold.
Congratulations to recent graduate Alexandra Carroll on receiving honorable mention for her poem “Yet.” Alex was selected as one of 83 honorable mentions for the Penguin Random House Creative Writing Awards. Over 1000 people applied from all 50 states and 2 territories, with only two of the awards given to students in Kentucky. Penguin Random House partners with We Need Diverse Books, and host their annual Creative Writing Awards, looking for writing with a strong, clear voice by high school seniors who are daring and original. Congratulations, Alex!

"Hello! I am Ms. Roberts and am excited to teach Spanish at GCHS this fall. I began learning Spanish as a sophomore in high school and have loved the language and culture ever since. I have two dogs: a pug named Gus and a beagle named Murphey. I am so excited to meet my new students and can’t wait for the school year to begin!"
