Garrard County High School recently hosted their Ghost Out Program. A guest, dressed as the Grim Reaper, stalked the hallways of the Garrard County High School and selected fourteen “victims”. These “victims” represented the average number of people killed in alcohol or drug-related crashes during the school day and were declared “deceased”. A memorial service was conducted for the fourteen “victims” during the afternoon assembly, with the students of GCHS in attendance. Thank you to our Garrard County Youth Services Center, Garrard County, Davis Shepherd, ASAP (Agency Substance Abuse Policy), MADD (Mother Against Drunk Drives), GCHS TATU Club (Teens Against Tobacco Use), Garrard County Coroner’s Office, Garrard County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster Police Department, Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and First Responders for working together to address drug and alcohol abuse among our young people today. #gcsproud

Mrs. Hoskins' AP Language and Composition class recently had a guest speaker visit and present on the Kentucky Innocence Project. Erin McQuerry (GCHS class of 2016), a law student at UK, spoke to the students about wrongful conviction and the work of the KIP to exonerate innocent individuals who have been wrongfully convicted. The students in AP Lang are currently reading the text Just Mercy and completing a nine-week research project related to the text. It is always great seeing alumni returning to GCHS to impact student learning! #gchsproud
