On Saturday, December 7th, forty Garrard County students had the opportunity to experience the joy of the holiday season through the annual Shop with a Cop and Shop with a Firefighter programs. These events, organized by Garrard County Schools’ Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC), brought together local law enforcement, firefighters, and the community to support our GCS students.
This year, twenty-four students participated in Shop with a Cop, funded by generous donations from community members, while sixteen students shopped through Shop with a Firefighter, supported by contributions from local businesses. These programs not only provided much-needed holiday cheer but also fostered a spirit of connection and kindness.
Family Resource Center Director Angie Wagoner expressed her gratitude, saying, "We couldn’t do these events without the support of the community. We are very grateful." Kim Dailey, FRYSC Director, added, "What a great opportunity for our families in our community."
Thanks to the generosity of donors and the hard work of the FRYSC team, the event was a great success, ensuring that the holiday season is a little brighter for these students and their families.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event possible and to our dedicated law enforcement and firefighters for their role in spreading joy and goodwill.
