Thanks to our amazing PTOs and Family Resource Center at Camp Dick Robinson and Paint Lick Elementary, students are experiencing the joy of giving this holiday season.🎁 At the Penguin Patch, students shop for affordable gifts, pick out the perfect presents, have them wrapped, and pay all on their own! It is sweet to see their excitement and thoughtfulness as they choose gifts for their families. Next week, our Lancaster Elementary School students will be experiencing the same thing with the Mistletoe Market!

Garrard County High School is proud to be the first in the Bluegrass Region to offer a Registered K-12 Teacher Apprenticeship Program, providing students with hands-on teaching experience, paid work, and professional mentorship. This initiative was celebrated with a presentation by Ben Richardson from the Department of Labor, recognizing the district's leadership in workforce development.
Career Support Specialist Mrs. Ashlee Bolin, a driving force behind the program, shared, "This is the type of real-world experience you can't learn in a college classroom!" Currently, three students are participating: Myla Parson at Paint Lick Elementary in a Kindergarten classroom, Adria Major at Lancaster Elementary in a Pre-School classroom, and Keira Miller, who is preparing to start her apprenticeship soon. Congratulations to our Garrard County High School students who have been awarded Fall 2024 Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) Launch Grants by the Kentucky FFA Foundation! Out of nearly 300 applications, these students stood out for their passion and innovative agricultural projects. Each recipient earned a $500 grant, funded by generous sponsors like the Steele Reese Foundation, First Southern National Bank, and more.

Next week, we’re kicking off our 10 Days of Garrard Giveaways! With only 10 school days left until Christmas break, we’re spreading holiday cheer by giving back to our students, families, and community members. Here’s how it works:
Each day, we’ll post a Garrard Giveaway item. To enter, simply like the post, comment on it, and make sure you like and follow BOTH the Garrard County Schools District page and the Garrard County Athletics page on Facebook and Instagram! Winners will be announced daily, and prizes can be picked up at the Board of Education after the announcement. (For student and staff winners, items will be delivered directly to their school).

Thumbs Up Thursday! 👍 Congratulations to our November attendance winners! Students with half a day or less absent and no tardies (97% attendance) this month received a special treat and were entered into a prize drawing. One student from each grade at every school took home a $10 gift card to McDonalds, thanks to First Southern National Bank for sponsoring this month’s rewards. Way to go, students, and thank you, First Southern, for supporting our schools!

We had a GREAT time welcoming families and students to check out and enjoy our athletic facilities tonight! From running the bases on our baseball and softball fields to practicing tennis serves, scoring penalty kicks, and nailing field goals, students and families were all smiles! A fantastic way to show our appreciation for the incredible support of our community.
🚦Traffic Update: The stoplight at Maple and 27 is currently out of service and will not be restored today, according to the city. Temporary stop signs have been placed at the intersection, but please use extra caution as traffic flow may still be impacted- especially at school pick-up time. Drive safely!
🗓 Calendar Reminder: There will be no school for Garrard County Schools November 27-29th for Thanksgiving Break. We hope everyone enjoys a restful and joyful holiday! 🦃🍂

Our students are getting creative with the annual hand turkey project!🖐🦃 They’re submitting designs in four fun categories: Tradition Tom, Breakout Bird, Postmodern Poultry, and Goody Gobbler. 📢Reminder: Garrard County Schools Hall of Fame nominations closing soon! Nominations are open and can be submitted now through November 30th. Nomination forms can be submitted electronically using the link below or a hard copy form can be completed at the Garrard County Board of Education office. To be eligible, nominees must either be retired from Garrard County Schools (no active employees) or have graduated at least five years ago (no current students). A selection committee will review all nominations and inductees will be announced in March, followed by a Hall of Fame Banquet in April to celebrate their achievements. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize those who have made a lasting impact on our schools and community.
